Physical Education is a great opportunity to implement Augmented Reality.

For students who are reluctant to participate in certain lessons, using apps such as Pokemon Go, Quas AR, or Zombies, Run! can inspire students to get up, move around and have fun without it feeling like exercise.

Creating a QR code scavenger hunt based on various things learned about the human body, muscle movements or healthy eating are a good way to get students moving and active while creating competition or teamwork. QR Codes can also be used as resources on how to use gym equipment or certain muscular exercises or stretches.

AR Runner is another great AR-based application that allows students to get fit, test their fitness and challenge one another in friendly competition. Click here to see how it works.

SupportRealTeachers.org is a great resource for Physical Health Education teachers to develop or find ways to incorporate AR into their practice.

Place Based Learning is a great opportunity for students to learn about the history of place using Augmented Reality. Using QR codes is a great way to help students learn about various parts of their community or a physical space, and allows for collaborative work and connections to prior learning to help connect to the land.

Apps such as Assemblr EDU provide educators the opportunity to create content for various academic courses such as History. Using 3D objects, teachers can create interactive and fun learning experiences for students through the use of augmented reality.

Many AR apps exist that support the sciences. Apps such as Brainsapse help transform student learning as they use AR to learn more about the human brain.

Other apps such as Froggipedia allow teachers and students the ability to explore the life cycle of a frog within augmented reality, helping them to better understand the process of growth from a cell to a fully grown toad.

If you're teaching a unit on astronomy, the popular mobile app Star Walk 2 has you covered. Students are able to interact and better understand astronomy and space in real time using AR. Better yet, it's free! For younger students, Star Walk Kids is a great application to use when teaching astronomy using AR. Check it out in action!

There are also AR applications that are used for learning more about flowers or the environment, as well other bodily organs such as the eye. Despite a few of the above apps already being showcased above, Gadget360 has a few additional science related AR apps that will be sure to kickstart learning in the lab.

Although this particular application is geared more specifically toward younger groups of students, Math Alive is an interactive, trigger-based interactive AR experience where students can learn 86 different math concepts.

If you're looking to spruce up the teachings of some math activities, consider using AR based measurement apps such as the Measure App already found on many iPhones. Or, if you're needing more complicated measurements, consider AR Ruler 3D which allows you measure more than just distance, such as volume, angle, and perimeter.

Many creative and art related apps exist that integrate AR within them. Worldbrush allows artists to design and create AR art that can be shared and experienced with those around the globe, and is completely anonymous to submitting artists. On how Worldbrush functions, click here.

Future tattoo artist in the classroom? (There always seems to be one!) Ink Hunter allows users the ability to test try a tattoo design on their body using AR before actually deciding to get one.  Artists can also upload their own art and try it on themselves, or share it with the community so others can decide if a similar design or artwork would best function as a tattoo.

Kunstmatrix is a website where artists can upload and share a digital version their artwork using AR triggers, where their art can be viewed in real time. In addition, submitting artists can create trigger-based art shows if transporting ones art is difficult or tricky. Communities of artists can also share their work, spreading one's work beyond their own communities.

Although there are many other ways in which augmented reality can be implemented into your practice, the best way is to start with reading and deciding whether AR is going to work with your classroom.

The eLearningIndustry discusses the best practices, uses and considerations when thinking of implementing AR into the classroom. In addition, it provides many options for software for teachers deciding whether they're wanting to implement AR as either a collaborative or self-taught learning experience.
